The Summer Sailing classes, a huge success in the last four years, will be offered again this summer. These are for SDYC members (ages 18 and up) for all levels: novice/beginners, intermediate, and advanced. Experienced coaches will provide expert training at these levels. Boats will be available from the Junior Sailing program for a fee for non boat owners.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Novice / Beginners
- Basic knowledge of sailing
- Learn parts of the boat, how to rig and unrig, and boat maintenance
- Water Safety
Intermediate
- Practice proper sailing techniques
- Introduction to basic racing
- Water Safety
Advanced
- Advanced sailing skills
- Sailing theory and racing strategy
- Boat handling and trim
- Regatta preparation
What to Bring (must have)
- Life Vest w/ attached whistle
- Bailer with a 8-10' long thin line attached
- Sponge
- Paddle (can be a ping pong paddle)
- Watch with timer
- Bow line about 12' long
What to Bring (recommended)
- Knee pads
- Hat or visor
- Sunglasses
- Sailing Gloves
- Light and Quick Drying Clothes (jeans not recommended)
- No jewelry
- Set of dry clothes
- Towel
