ACAPULCO CHALLENGE October
Annual club challenge event between Acapulco Yacht Club and San Diego Yacht Club. Hosted by SDYC biennially, and AYC on opposite years.

BENETEAU CUP September 17-18
This is a fleet race event for all makes of Beneteau design boats. It features W/L courses in the ocean for the two most popular designs – First 40.7 and First 36.7 but also holds racing for all other Beneteau boats on a handicap system.
           

BISHOP ROCK RACE August 26-28
This race is 189 mile blue water race. It begins in the vicinity of Ship Rock at Isthmus Cove, Catalina, goes west around Santa Barbara Island, south to Cortez Bank and the namesake ‘Bishop Rock buoy’ and final east to the finish at the entrance to San Diego Bay.
           

DUTCH SHOE MARATHON July 22
This race is sailed in the 8’ Naples Sabot and features fleets for all levels. The race begins in La Playa Cove next to San Diego Yacht Club, proceeds down San Diego bay along North Island and ends in Glorietta Bay at Coronado Yacht Club.
           

ETCHELLS MIDWINTERS April 8-10
This series is for the International Etchells Class. This popular event features W/L courses in the ocean off of Zuniga Jetty.
           

HOT RUM I, II, & III November 5 & 26, December 3
This series is open to monohull and multihull boats in excess of 20 ft in length. The course is a random leg course beginning and ending in the vicinity of SD Channel Buoy #17. There are great parties after each of the three races.
           
ISLANDS RACE March 4-5
An offshore overnight race taking sailors around the Lower Channel Islands (Catalina and San Clemente), with parties hosted at NHYC and SDYC
           

J/FEST September 23-25
SDYC hosts several fleets of J/Boats biennially in the traditional J/Fest regatta. A Friday Tune-Up race followed by 2 days of fleet racing and social activities.
           

LIPTON CUP Aug 12-14
This is a Yacht Club Challenge event hosted by previous year's winning club. The current one design boat used for the challenge is the J-105. The course is windward/leeward and usually raced in the ocean.
       

MEN'S MAYHEM April 23
This event is sailed in the Naples Sabot and is for adults only. The course is located in La Playa Cove next to San Diego Yacht Club.
           

NEW YEAR'S DAY REGATTA January 1
This race is open to all monohull and multihull boats. This is a random leg course around San Diego Bay.
           

NOOD (National Offshore One Design) March 18-20
This series is open to all offshore One Design Fleets. A fleet must have a minimum of 5 boats to participate. The courses are located in South San Diego Bay and in the Ocean off of Zuniga Jetty. Courses are windward/leeward legs.
           

ONE DESIGN WEEKEND Monthly
These weekend series are open to all One Design Fleets. A fleet must have a minimum of 5 boats to participate. The courses are located in South San Diego Bay and in the Ocean off of Zuniga Jetty. Courses are windward/leeward legs.
       

OPENING DAY WEEKEND (Race on 4/16) April 16-17
This race is open to all monohull boats in excess of 20 feet in length overall. This is a random leg race and will start and finish in the vicinity of SD Buoy #17. The course will be in San Diego Bay.
       

ORCA BOWL May 21-22
This series is for the International Etchells Class. The course is in the Ocean off of Zuniga Jetty and consists of windward/leeward legs.
           

ROLLINS BOWL May 14-15
This series is for the International Star Class. The course is in the Ocean off of Zuniga Jetty and consists of windward/leeward legs.
           

SCYA MIDWINTERS February 20-21
SDYC hosts offshore one designs for this region wide event. Courses are W/L in the ocean.
           

SENIOR SABOT SATURDAYS Monthly
12 Saturday afternoons of fun & competitive Senior Sabot (18 years & older) racing in La Playa Cove Men & Women. First warning 12 noon. Approx. 5 windward-leeward races.
         
VALLARTA RACE March 1-10, 2012
Biennial International race, hosted by SDYC since 1953. 1,000nm course to Paradise Village in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico.
         

YACHTING CUP April 29 - May 1
This series is open to monohull boats (PHRF and One Design classes). The courses are in the Ocean off of Zuniga Jetty and in the Ocean west of Point Loma. This race is run in conjunction with the Friday Ton Cup.
           

YVONKA INTERNATIONAL OVERNIGHT July 17-18
This race is open to monohull and multihull boats. The starting area on Day 1 will be in the vicinity of Zuniga Jetty. The starting area for Day 2 will be in the vicinity of South Coronado Island. Clearance thru Customs is required at the conclusion of the event.
