Request the Pleasure of Your Company at
SAN DIEGO YACHT CLUB 127th OPENING DAY WEEKEND
Opening Ceremonies
- The United States Marine Corps Color Guard and Band in San Diego will honor us at the Opening Ceremony. It is always a moving experience.
- The revenue cutter Californian
will be moored in the turning basin and open for
your entertainment.
- The Commodore’s theme this year is the Opening Day Fair.
- Yachts throughout the club will be open for Hospitality (see below).
- There will be several complimentary food and beverage
stations for your gastronomic pleasure.
- Strolling musicians entertain you, and we are attempting to arrange for our usual perfect Opening Day weather.
Best Dressed Dock Competition
Members with vessels docked at the Club are
requested to "Dress Ship" for the 127th "Opening Day" at the San Diego Yacht Club. As an incentive, the dock with the highest percentage of dressed yachts will be awarded a prize. In the past, the prize has been a dock cart full of beer and wine.
Dressed vessels on each dock will be counted the morning prior to the ceremony. The percentage will then be calculated. The dock with the highest percentage of dressed yachts will be announced and the prize will be awarded during the ceremony.
Dig out your old signal flags or buy a new set, but be sure they are flying high on Opening Day.
Flags do not have to be displayed in any particular order. They only need to create a colorful and festive appearance. Irrepressible overachievers can get creative and spell out your boat name, the Commodore's name or some other appropriate words of phrases. |
