Sailors in the Challenge for the Lipton Cup will sail the J/105 class of boat. The J/105, a 34-foot, Rod Johnstone design, is part of the "Sprit Boat Revolution" that ignited a spark when introduced in 2002 as the new contender for the Lipton Cup Challenge. Featuring an asymmetric spinnaker, flown from a retracable carbon bow sprit, the J/105 planes faster than most 40 footers and only requires five to six crew members; consequently, this speed demon has been considered an excellent choice for the prestigious Lipton Cup competition!
