BOAT NAME: Reely Hooked III
BOAT TYPE:
Mikelson 57 Sportfisher
SKIPPER: Jon Bivens
EXPERIENCE: 34 Years
CLUB: Newport Beach Yacht Club
BUILT:
2008
PURCHASED: 2008

FAVORITE DESTINATION:
For the family - Cherry Cove, Catalina. Lots to do for the grandkids and laid back atmosphere. For fishing - Pyramid Cove, San Clemente Island. Close to the fishing grounds and well protected anchorage.

FAVORITE BOATING EXPERIENCE:
Albacore trips in the middle of the night to get where the fish might be. Usually in sloppy weather. Great bunch of fishing buddies. The annual Mikelson Island Rendevous in Cherry Cove is always a great time. Also cruised on a friends 55 Fleming in Desolation Bay, BC.

ABOUT THE CREW:
Being recruited.

WHAT'S IN A NAME: "REELY HOOKED III"
The name Reely Hooked was already given to a used 38 Med that I bought in 1992. We liked the name so to avoid any superstition, we kept it. In 1999 we bought a new 43 Mikelson which became Reely Hooked II. In 2008 we stepped up to a 57 Mikelson; thus Reely Hooked III. By the way, I stlll have Reely Hooked II which is for sale.

REASON FOR PURCHASING THIS BOAT:
Previous experience with a Mikelson. Great fishing machine with a spacious salon and bridge for entertaining.

PREVIOUS BOATS OWNED:
13' Glaspar Ski boat, 26' Cruisers, 38' Med, 43' Mikelson.

INTEREST IN THE FUBAR ODYSSEY:
We like the idea of traveling with a group for our first venture below Ensenada. Will probably keep RH III in Mexico until May.

BOATING STORY:
First marlin tournament in 1993; the Churchmouse. Using borrowed lures and not having a clue, we started fishing on the slide. We had a kelp strike. Forgot to set the clickers so almost spooled. Turned out to be a 219 # striper. Landed with a hand gaff in the first hour of the tournament. Ended up winning the tournament; spent 1/2 of First place $ on the bar bill. Spent lots more since!!!
