Willard Trawler
SKIPPERS: George & Pamela Gliksman
EXPERIENCE: 50 Years
CLUB: Richmond Yacht Club
BUILT:
1981

FAVORITE DESTINATION:
The crystal clear waters of the Caribbean, and the splendor of the PNW, all quintessential experiences, the nature of which we could only have come to by traveling in our own boat.

FAVORITE BOATING EXPERIENCE:
Just "being" in the weather and lush surroundings of the tropics, on our own boat, with "all the time in the world". It doesn't get better than that!

ABOUT THE CREW:
Boating friends of ours, whom we met cruising, years and years ago.

WHAT'S IN A NAME: "OCEAN LADY"
We bought our boat, and she was named as she was. And we kept the name.

REASON FOR PURCHASING THIS BOAT:
All boats are a compromise. Ocean Lady represented the least of all compromises. We also needed a boat that would accommodate our parents and family members should they decide to join us from time to time. But that's another story.

PREVIOUS BOATS OWNED:
13 ft Bluejay, 21 ft Carinita, 21 ft Clipper, 35 ft Cheoy Lee Lion, 70 ft Herreshoff-design 3 masted staysail schooner. All sailboats!

INTEREST IN THE FUBAR ODYSSEY:
The spirit of adventure when you begin a new journey, and the pleasure of experiencing it all with like-minded people.

BOATING STORY:
Years ago, in Trinidad, after George had published a new Cruising Guide to Trinidad, we were bringing a box full of the Guides back to our boat, and trying to load them aboard from the dinghy to the stern in very choppy water. We dropped the whole box of books overboard. We scooped them up and took them below, and hung them from everything we could, fanned out to dry. And we didn't laugh about it for a very long time. But now we do. The other time, also in Trinidad, we paid $100 for two costumes to Carnival. When they were delivered to us, they arrived in little brown paper bags. We mean "little". We never even opened them. We gave them away, and never even went to Carnival. We are such Party-poopers.
