BOAT NAME: Marlin Nailer II
BOAT TYPE:
Pacifica Sportfisher
SKIPPER: Curtis Corda
EXPERIENCE: 37 Years
CLUB: San Diego YC
BUILT:
1971
PURCHASED: 2000

FAVORITE DESTINATION:
Most anywhere on saltwater I am happy. From kayak to cruise ship. I enjoy the adventure, fishing, sightseeing, new and old friends to share it all.

FAVORITE BOATING EXPERIENCE:
First date with my wife in a leaky rowboat in Norway.

ABOUT THE CREW:
Craig Corda, my brother, a successful offroad racer, good fisherman, excellent cook, engaging story teller. Paul Noden, retired newspaper photographer, fisherman, will try anything, his wife sends him with me, keeps the inside of the boat clean. Has all the right toys for every adventure. George Bishop, surfer, paddler, fisherman, all around boatman, competes with Craig for the most vacation time (I think you're supposed to be working to call it a vacation).

WHAT'S IN A NAME: "MARLIN NAILER II"
Marlin Nailer, the first one was a Owens Brigantine 33' sportfisher. She was named by a previous owner Charlie Carpenter who also made jigs that he sold under the name of Marlin Nailer, hence the boat name.

REASON FOR PURCHASING THIS BOAT:
Fast enough, big enough to fish from, easy to single hand, privacy for my two daughters, nice beach condo for a desert rat, comfortable offshore. And yes most important of all, She's BEAUTIFUL.

PREVIOUS BOATS OWNED:
Sabot, Venture 21, Glastron 15', Bayliner 24', Magregor 24', Baja 22', Luhrs 28', Uniflite 31', Pacemaker 34', Owens Brigantine 33', Donzi Sweet 16, and a few skiffs etc.

INTEREST IN THE FUBAR ODYSSEY:
Looks to me like a great way to share in a controlled adventure with like minded boaters.

BOATING STORY:
OK, early in my learning curve circa January 1974 a boating adventure to Mexico. Four guys, a Baja 22, Zodiac w/15hp motor, dive gear (yes tanks), fish gear, minimal safety stuff, cameras, fuel, food, Beer, Ice etc, drove to San Felipe in Baja where we launched the boat. Jeeze the boat wouldn't plane, oh well slow is good. We didn't leave enough room for the sand bar south of town so we did a little boat walking. By then we were pretty sure we were overloaded, none the less we were La Paz bound. Spent the night in Puertacitos where we broke into my parents trailer as we didn't bring a key, but it was comfortable. We refueled in Gonzaga where we had to retrieve the Zodiac from someone who thought just cuz we were in the bar it was abandoned. Next night was at Punta Final where it was rough and cold, spelled snowing and blowing a gale. Rough night, waves riped off the swim step I had so carefuly made and installed (learning curve). Back to Gonzaga to regroup. Here we lost two crew members, one was love sick the other couldn't take being seasick any longer, they hitched a ride out on a plane. After a few days of watching the weather (yes January), we decided we should try this another time so we headed back to San Felipe, with the boat, besides we had almost used up all the provisions. I have not invited anyone from that trip on FUBAR. We had a great time, yea I know January???
