BOAT NAME: Mariah
BOAT TYPE:
Californian Motor Yacht
SKIPPER: Gene Anderson
EXPERIENCE: 35 Years
BUILT:
1990
PURCHASED: 2008

FAVORITE DESTINATION:
Cat Harbor and Santa Barbara Island. Cat Harbor because of the smooth anchorage which is like a bathtub! Santa Barbara Island because of its great diving and fishing. It is fun to walk around the island and see different flora and fauna, and the hugh seal rookery.

FAVORITE BOATING EXPERIENCE:
Taking by boat to Baja after my delivery offshore. I spent over five months at Puerto Salina, which is a new harbor south of Tijuana some forty miles. Since it was summer, the fishing was great, and the diesel fuel costs were bearable.

ABOUT THE CREW:
My crew will consist of my son Jason and his friend Erin. Also two people that I went to kindergarten with, so long ago I can't remember!

WHAT'S IN A NAME: "MARIAH"
The boat name is MARIAH. It was named after my golden retreiver who is in doggie heaven.

REASON FOR PURCHASING THIS BOAT:
The size, comfort, and all the amenities that were incorporated in this boat.

PREVIOUS BOATS OWNED:
I started out with a Columbia 29 defender, and stepped up to a Columbia 43! My change to a power boat was iniated by my desire to by a push button skipper.

INTEREST IN THE FUBAR ODYSSEY:
Boating South with a group. Also, all the preplanned layovers, parties, etc! The idea of having medical and mechanical help, if needed, is appealing.

BOATING STORY:
I fell overboard pushing off the dock while my boat was in reverse. This was my prior boat (Columbia 43), My golden retriever looked down at me in the water and wondered what was going on. The ending was good, because I climbed on the dock and stopped the boat before it crossed the fairway.
