Selene 48
SKIPPER: Brian Calvert
EXPERIENCE: 47 Years
CLUB: Queen City YC
BUILT:
2005

FAVORITE DESTINATION:
West Side of Vancouver Island. Amazing wildlife, rugged terrain, remote anchorages and hot springs.

FAVORITE BOATING EXPERIENCE:
Circumnavigating Vancouver Island.

ABOUT THE CREW:
Capt. Brian Calvert has been boating since a child.  With years of experience in the Northwest and from Cabo to Seattle, including six coastal trips, three circumnavigation's of Vancouver Island and four trips to Alaska. Brian is looking forward to sun and warm water diving. John Wooldridge is editor in chief of Passagemaker Magazine and has traveled with me on Furthur several times, always a welcome crew.

WHAT'S IN A NAME: "FURTHUR"
Furthur was the name on the bus that Ken Keisey and the Merry Pranksters did a cross country road trip in 1964. The events were recorded in Tom Wolfe's "Electric Koolaid Acid Test". The name was spelled wrong on most of the trip--hence the second "u". I always planned on this as a name for a long range boat.

REASON FOR PURCHASING THIS BOAT:
The Selene is the best long range trawler on the market-- of course this comes from one who has sold them for ten years.

PREVIOUS BOATS OWNED:
1972 40' Monk trawler, many sailboats.

INTEREST IN THE FUBAR ODYSSEY:
The camaraderie, traveling and meeting like minded boaters.
