BOAT NAME: Enterprise
BOAT TYPE:
Nordhavn 55
SKIPPER: Bob Bingham
EXPERIENCE: 24 Years
CLUB: San Diego Yacht Club
BUILT:
2005
PURCHASED: 2008

FAVORITE DESTINATION:
So far we're partial to cruising Enterprise in the PNW and doing a little bare boat chartering in the BVI. We're open to new adventures and hope to see where Enterprise takes us.

FAVORITE BOATING EXPERIENCE:
Being the only boat within sight, and being surrounded by thousands of porpoises, finned whales, baleen whales, sea lions, fish schools and cacophony of birds makes it all worth it.

ABOUT THE CREW:
Bob Bingham is a former charter captain in his youth, running mostly sailboats then spent years in boat remission while working. Darcy Bingham is new to the water, and is making up for lost ground quickly. This is our second season on board Enterprise with head of security Petra (dog) and chief bed warmer Vash (cat). We're being joined by Ray and Shannon Latchem, whom we struck up a friendship at Trawlerfest in San Diego.

WHAT'S IN A NAME: "ENTERPRISE"
We bought the boat with the great name Enterprise, and since it's severely bad luck to change it, we're keeping it. But we have lots of reasons to like the name including the US Naval pedigree, the yacht racing history, and that we're products of the free enterprise system. Plus, we're huge Star Trek fans, so see if you can guess the name of our dingy.

REASON FOR PURCHASING THIS BOAT:
As a former sailor, and a big sailboat was in the back of my mind for years, but after doing some analysis, reading 'voyaging under power', and realizing that my years of being cold and wet might be over, Nordhavn boats started to make sense. The 47 was bit too small, the 64 was a bit to big for the two of us, so the 55 was just right!

PREVIOUS BOATS OWNED:
My first boat was a Hobie 16, then Coronado 25, Spirit 28, then became a captain of a charter company with 30 boats to play with at 19. No boats since then until Enterprise.

INTEREST IN THE FUBAR ODYSSEY:
We've done a lot of travel all over the world, but we've never spent any time in Mexico. The idea of doing a trip with a bunch of like minded individuals is intriguing, and seems like a good entree into cruising Mexican waters.

BOATING STORY:
Over the radio in BVI... "I've used my first anchor the first day, and the second anchor the second day.... what should I do for my third day?"
