BROWN EYED GIRL

View more profiles
BOAT NAME: Brown Eyed Girl
BOAT TYPE:
Skipjack 28 Flybridge
SKIPPER: Larry Lucore
EXPERIENCE: 35 Years
CLUB: Punta Chivato
BUILT:
1977
PURCHASED: 1989

FAVORITE DESTINATION:
San Juan Islands and the Canadian Island around the San Juans. Bahamas (Abacos and the outer islands of the Abacos). Mexico (Sea of Cortez). Catalina and So California areas. A trailer boat can take you to many places and all of these areas were just beautiful.

FAVORITE BOATING EXPERIENCE:
Fubar 2007 and all of the above destinations where there is good cruising. Good anchorages, good fishing and great margaritas.

ABOUT THE CREW:
Myself and the crew are all retired firemen from the city of Encinitas in San Diego County where we worked many years together. John Hunt (will call him the First Mate this time) still volunteers at Shelter Valley FD, is a pilot and likes to cruise, fish, and makes a great Margarita with anything he has on board. Gary Bruntch (will call him the deck hands), is an Ocean Beach resident, a boat owner, and a fish magnet.

WHAT'S IN A NAME: "BROWN EYED GIRL"
Named after my wife because she is the real Brown Eyed Girl.

REASON FOR PURCHASING THIS BOAT:
The Skipjack 28 is not in production anymore but is proven to be a reliable and sound boat. Besides it is trailerable with an 8ft beam and can be trailered anywhere.

PREVIOUS BOATS OWNED:
Started with a 12' green fiberglass Sears Ted Williams Gamefisher with a small percolator outboard motor. We fished the Sea of Cortez and caught limits of yellowtail, dorados, roosterfish, and cabrilla. In those days you did not have to go far off the beach.

INTEREST IN THE FUBAR ODYSSEY:
The cruising, parties, fishing and fun with a group of great boaters.

BOATING STORY:
Jumping into the water one morning at Double-Breasted Cove in the Bahamas to undo a fouled stern anchor line and came face to face with a large Barracuda staring at me from under the boat.
