View more profiles
BOAT NAME: Bodacious
BOAT TYPE:
Pilothouse Trawler
SKIPPER: Tim Cass
EXPERIENCE: 40 Years
CLUB: PLYC
BUILT:
1980
PURCHASED: 2008

FAVORITE DESTINATION:
Southern Florida - Lots of out of the way places to anchor with warm clear water.

FAVORITE BOATING EXPERIENCE:
Going on the Baja HaHa and then continuing on to Puerto Vallarta.

ABOUT THE CREW:
My wife and I have owned boats for much of our 41 years of marriage. My brother and brother-in-law (also with many years of boating experience in southern Florida) will be joining us.

WHAT'S IN A NAME: "BODACIOUS"
When we acquired our boat last year it had a french name, which translated to Sea Sheppard. This was fitting as it is a full displacement pilot house trawler with jumping porpoises etched in the pilot house and salon windows. Unfortunately neither my wife or myself could pronounce it so we needed another name. (A safety concern for those potential distress calls.) While researching potential new name we came across BODACIOUS which we thought was a good fit. The definition being a "full figured female" or "really cool" both of which worked for us.

REASON FOR PURCHASING THIS BOAT:
The cockpit, salon and galley all being on the same level and my wife fell in love with the pilot house.

PREVIOUS BOATS OWNED:
Before this boat we owned sail boats - an Islander 36 for 9 years and a Santana 21 since 1973.

INTEREST IN THE FUBAR ODYSSEY:
A great way to meet like-minded people heading off on an adventure. We are planning on continuing on to Florida via the Panama Canal and then starting the new adventure of the American Great Loop.

BOATING STORY:
Losing all electrical power from Turtle Bay to Cabo and then again half way to PV. Makes you glad you brought battery operated GPS and hand held VHF.
