BOAT NAME: Big Chill
BOAT TYPE: Selene 43 SKIPPER: John & Susan Carr EXPERIENCE: 30 Years
CLUB: Point Yacht Club
BUILT: 2009 PURCHASED: 2009
FAVORITE DESTINATION:
We have spent most of our time cruising the west coast of Florida. At the beginning of the FUBAR, we will have spent some time in the Pacific NW. We plan to continue from the FUBAR to our home in Alabama via the Panama Canal. This adventure will have to be our "favorite".
FAVORITE BOATING EXPERIENCE: Sailing offshore from Pensacola to the Dry Tortugas.
ABOUT THE CREW: John has recently retired after many years in investments. First Mate Susan retired from commercial asset management. Our crew will be Eugenia and Barry Frank from Raleigh, NC. They are newlyweds, this is sort of a honeymoon, and are therefore, fair game!
WHAT'S IN A NAME: "BIG CHILL"
Big Chill - The name is all that it implies.
REASON FOR PURCHASING THIS BOAT:
We have always owned sailboats. When attempting to take the last cruise and the winds were most uncooperative (as usual) we decided to switch to the "Dark Side" of power boating, as my daughter puts it. We decided the Selene 43 was the perfect boat for the cruising Susan and I look forward to doing.
PREVIOUS BOATS OWNED:
Catalina 27, Irwin 43, Bristol 38.8 and most recently, Cabo Rico 42
INTEREST IN THE FUBAR ODYSSEY:
Meeting other people who enjoy cruising on their boats as much as we do. This will be our first experience in these waters. Hopefully, we will meet some other people who are continuing through the Panama Canal to the Carribean.
