SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The  Rally is scheduled for 13 days, weather permitting from San Diego, CA and ending in La Paz, Baja California. The distance covered is approximately 917nm depending on the Captain’s course. There are 7 stops including the finish, which are, Ensenada, Turtle Bay, Santa Maria, Magdalena Bay (Man of War Cove), Puerto Los Cabos (San Jose del Cabo), Bahia de los Suenos, and Costa Baja Resort and Marina, La Paz.

There are 3 overnights.
There are 4 stops that require anchoring.
There are 3 stops with slips.

Each Captain is in charge of his/her own vessel and makes all final decisions. Each vessel must be capable of 8 to 8.5 kts with sufficient fuel plus a reserve in the vessels integral tanks.  No bladders or other types of containers for fuel on deck or cockpit. All participating boats must be ready to depart San Diego on the morning of November 14, 2009.

Medicine, Fishing, Electronice, Provisioning, Planning, etc. Other topics to be developed by the committee.

BOATS ARRIVING IN SAN DIEGO

Begin Boat Inspections

Check In, Hospitality Desk set up in the SDYC lobby with Merchandise Desk. This will be open all week as necessary.

Meet with Ita Gordon and Fito Espinosa in the La Playa Room (room behind main bar). FUBAR Paperwork as needed. Boat inspections continued.

November 13th - FRIDAY

November 14th - SATURDAY
Depart San Diego in the morning, for Ensenada Mexico.  This is a run of approximately 65nm, and will take approximately 7.6 hrs at 8.5kts.  Plan to arrive in Ensenada in time to take on fuel  if you have ordered it and November 14 is your day to load.  There are two marinas that are expecting the fleet, Marina Coral at Hotel Coral and Ensenada Cruiseport Village.  You are responsible for your own slip arrangements, not only here but throughout the rally where applicable.  Information and applications will be posted on the web site.  We will stay 2 nights in Ensenada to allow time to fuel and do any last minute preparations.  There will be an evening event scheduled at Hotel Coral November 14.  Remain overnight in Ensenada.

November 15th - SUNDAY
Continue fueling.  Last minute preparations on the boat. Events planned for those not busy with fueling or boat chores. Remain overnight in Ensenada.

November 16th MONDAY
Depart Ensenada for Turtle Bay.  Ensenada to Turtle Bay is a distance of 282 nm.  At 8.5 kts this will take approximately 33 hours.  This will be the first overnight.

 


November 17th - TUESDAY
Arrive in Turtle Bay, arrival time will depend on your departure time and speed.  Anchor.  Start fueling those boats that have pre-ordered fuel.  There will be a maximum amount of fuel you can order.  This is to be determined in advance.  All the fuel has to be trucked into Turtle Bay and with a large fleet it is not unlimited.  There will be an evening event tonight.  Panga transportation from and back to the boats.  Remain overnight in Turtle Bay.

November 18th - Wednesday
Continue fueling today.  There will be a Dinghy Poker Rally overseen by Pat Rains, with prizes for the best hands.  This will give people a chance to deploy the dinghy for the first time and get in some practice!  Remain overnight in Turtle Bay.

 


November 19th - THURSDAY
Depart Turtle Bay for Santa Maria.  Turtle Bay to Santa Maria is a distance of 228nm and at a speed of 8.5kts will take approximately 27 hrs.  This will be the second overnight of the rally.

 


November 20th - FRIDAY
Arrive in Bahia Santa Maria.  Anchor.  We will stay in Santa Maria overnight if it is not bumpy.  If the conditions are not right we will move to Man of War Cove.  There will be an evening event in Santa Maria.  There is planned to be pangas to take us from the boats for the event and to return.

November 21st - SATURDAY
Move from Santa Maria to Man of War Cove, Mag. Bay.  This is a distance of 30nm and will take approximately 3.5 hrs at 8.5kts.  Anchor.  It is planned if the fishermen in the fleet have been successful we will have a fish fry at Man of War Cove in a small quaint restaurant called Mira Mar Restaurante depending on the luck of the fishermen in the Rally.  We will remain overnight in Man of War Cove.

November 22nd - SUNDAY
Depart Magdalena Bay for Puerto Los Cabos (San Jose del Cabo) a distance of 185 nm and at a speed of 8.5kts will take approximately 22hrs.  This will be the third and last overnight of the rally.  Bypass Cabo San Lucas as it is not part of the rally.  Only use as a fuel stop if necessary.

 


November 23rd - MONDAY
Arrive Puerto Los Cabos.  Slips have been pre-reserved by you.  This must be done by June 15, 2009 to be sure of a slip.  Information and application will be posted on the web site.  There will be an evening cocktail party hosted by Puerto Los Cabos.  Remain overnight.

November 24th - TUESDAY
Rest and catch up.  It is a short taxi ride to the town of San Jose del Cabo.  Gala late afternoon cocktail party and buffet dinner hosted by Snell Real Estate at Club Ninety Six.  Remain overnight.

November 25th - WEDNESDAY
Depart Puerto Los Cabos for Bahia de los Suenos (Bahia de los Muertos), a distance of 75 nm and at a speed of 8.5kts. will take approximately 9 hrs.  Arrive and anchor.  There will be a gala evening dinner and party in the "Train Room" at La Casa de los Suenos.  Transportation from the boats and return will be furnished.  Remain overnight.

November 26th - THURSDAY 
Depart Bahia de los Suenos for Costa Baja Resort and Marina at La Paz a distance of 52nm and at 8.5kts will take approximately 6 hrs.  Slips, reservations made by you must be completed by June 15, 2009 or there is no guarantee of a slip.  There will be a gourmet dinner hosted by Costa Baja Resort and Marina.  There will be other events at Costa Baja after today. End of the rally.
