WELCOME TO FUBAR ODYSSEY 2009!
The San Diego Yacht Club is proud to present FUBAR ODYSSEY '09 with the partnership and support of the Mexico Tourism Board. This is the second ever rally for a fleet of powerboats from San Diego to La Paz, escorted by vessels manned by experienced skippers and with the key support people aboard such as mechanics, doctors, and other key experts.
Routes have been pre-planned, and a weather routing service will be used to oversee the entire trip. The schedule is somewhat flexible to accommodate days spent for fishing and relaxing time. Fueling facilities and dockage for shore-side activities, parties, are pre-arranged at each stop along the way where such facilities exist. Slip reservations will be the responsibility of the participants.
This SDYC event is open to members of other yacht clubs or any other boat owners who are interested in participating. This event is designed for powerboats wishing to continue cruising in Mexico, and some boats will return on their own bottom or by transport at the end of the season (end of May). The return is of course the responsibility of the boat owner and captain not FUBAR.
Basic Requirements: Powerboats capable of going must be able to travel a minimum of 450 nautical miles at 8.5 knots without refueling.
Fees: The modest entry fee of $765 is required to cover the expenses. The fee is paid with the Boat Application and Entry Agreement. Applications opened up on March 15, 2009.
Charity: This is a charity event and the proceeds will go to the San Diego Sailing Foundation to be used for the San Diego Yacht Club Juniors.
