to be left on the outpost without supervision. The Clubs policy
on children applies at Buffalo Beach. See item 2 under Personal
Conduct in the SDYC Handbook.
Wildlife
There are Buffalo, Wasps, Yellow Jackets and Rattlesnakes in our area. There has been no problem in the past, but be aware of and respect these creatures. We share the land with them.
Fireworks
No fireworks of any kinds are allowed.
Reservations
Tent camping is available by reservation in SDYC owned tents only. Reservations are issued by the SDYC Dockmaster's office (tony@sdyc.org) on a first come, first served basis. A fee of $40 per tent night is charged. For the 2007 season 5 tents are available, each with sleeping space for 5. Reservations may be made for up to 7 consecutive nights. Members are limited to one tent per family during August and September. Exceptions to this will be placed on a space available list to be notified a minimum of 2 weeks prior to desired date. Buffalo Beach Club members may make reservations beginning April 1st. Other SDYC members may make reservations beginning April 10th.
Reservation Cancellations
A $25 cancellation fee will be charged to a Club member
if canceling less than 30 days before arriving. If your tent
space cannot be re-rented within this time period, you will be charged for the unrented reserved nights in addition to the cancellation fees.
Guests
A SDYC member must be present to sign for a guest. The member must be in the vicinity of White's Landing, on their boat, or camping.
Galley
Please check that the barbeque and stove are turned off after use. Please clean them after use and report any problems to the Beachmaster. Lighters are available.
Food Storage
A shed is provided for food storage with a designated area for each tent. Food should not be left behind when you depart, it is tempting to think that you are doing a good turn to the next group arriving, but the reality is that this discarded food deteriorates while taking up valuable storage space. There is a freezer for all to use. The Beachmaster will empty the freezer every Thursday.
Ice Machine
Ice is available to all SDYC members. Use the scoop when gathering
ice. The ice machine is for ice only, not for food or drink storage.
Please limit your usage to 1 bag per day.
.
Freezer
For all to use. The Beach Master will empty the freezer every
Thursday.
G alley and Picnic Tables
Campers and boaters shall cooperate with each other on their cooking and eating times. All facilities will be shared. Basic Rule #1 - No one dines alone. Share your table! Tables must be cleared off and cleaned when not in use. There will be no "reserving" of tables by leaving personal items on them.
Heads & Showers
Please limit your use of fresh water. Conservation is mandatory - showers must be short. There are 2 standard flush heads and 1 hot shower at the beach front location. Light will be on all night. The Yacht Club supplies paper towels and toilet tissue.
Equipment Usage
Row Boats and Kayaks
For all to use - Wear Life Jackets! Please return equipment and leave it as you found it for others to enjoy.
Personal Belongings
Please police the beach each evening for any articles. Items left on the beach of in the common area will be picked up by the Beachmaster early each morning and placed in the lost and found container.
Laundry
Our neighbors (The Catalina Experience) have a coin operated laundry available for our use. Please check with the Beachmaster for location and availability.
Trash and Garbage
Boaters may not bring trash ashore. The "Salad Bowl" boat is available for trash disposal at a nominal charge and runs to White's Landing every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the summer. If you cannot use the Salad Bowl, please either dispose of your trash in Avalon or bring it back to San Diego.
Pets
Pets are allowed ashore provided they are leashed. (See SDYC Leash
requirements and Los Angeles County Leash Laws). Please clean
up after your pets.
Buffalo Beach to Avalon Service
During the summer season the Beachmaster will make scheduled runs to Avalon to pick up and drop off members and guests. Runs must be scheduled in advance with the SDYC Dockmaster and must include number of passengers. Space is very limited and this arrangement precludes "on-demand" service. The scheduled boat to visit Avalon may be used on a "space available" basis. Check with the Beachmaster for available space. Shuttle boat trips will be scheduled to be compatible with arrivals and departures of the popular Dana Point and Long Beach ferries. The shuttle will run twice per day, meeting those ferries. The boat will make additional trips to/from Avalon if all passengers cannot be accommodated in one trip.
Anchoring and Mooring
The Harbor patrol controls the allocation and rates for moorigns. Anchoring is free inside the cove but restricted to a maximum of 2 weeks.
Dinghy Dock
SDYC members may tie a dinghy of no longer than 14 feet. Please use a long bow line. No kayaks. Thank you.
