Reserving Tents at BB is like Luxury Camping. The tents are hard bottom (similar to a yurt style,) equipped with two sets of bunk beds (twin/twin & twin/double) and a small set of shelves to store your gear. The space is not vast by any means but it is more accommodating and comfortable than your standard pitch style tent.
With your reservation comes access to the dry storage area, but keep in mind that although it is behind closed doors, little critters (ants/bugs) may have access to it as well. You may want to keep items in plastic storage type boxes if they are easily penetrable.
The Dockmaster’s Office will begin accepting in-person tent reservations from Commodore and Vice Commodore Buffalo Beach Club Members on March 19, 2011 at 0900 hours. Dockmasters will begin accepting phone and email reservations from Commodore and Vice Commodore Buffalo Beach Club Members around 1030 hours on the 19th, after initial in-person reservation requests have been made.
Tent reservations will be open to all members beginning Saturday, March 26th at 0900.
Members may make one initial tent reservation for the Peak Season. Multiple tents and reservations may be made if tents are available within two weeks of your arrival date. The tent rate is $75 per night.
Members may book one initial tent reservation for the High Season and one tent in the Peak Season. However, if a member does not book a tent for the Peak Season, then they may book two tents in the High Season. Multiple tents and reservations may be made for the High Season with the Dockmaster’s Office beginning 9:00 AM on Saturday, April 30 2011. The tent rate for the High Season is $50 per night.
Commodore level Buffalo Beach Club Members may reserve tents for the Low Season by calling the Dockmaster’s Office. The tent rate for the Low Season is $35 per night.
*Members may not make reservations for other members.
*The maximum rental period is seven consecutive nights.
*Members must notify the Dockmaster’s Office before using tents at Buffalo Beach.
Members won’t be charged for cancelled tent reservations if the Dockmaster’s Office receives the cancellation request 30 days prior to the first day of your reservation. A member will be charged if your tent space is not re-rented, and the cancellation request is made within 30 days of the reservation date.
We will do everything we can to help arrange transportation to Buffalo Beach. However, please keep in mind that our Beachmaster does not begin working until late June, and he will stop working in late September or October. He does not work on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. If the Beachmaster is working and available, members will be charged $20 for the trip to or from Avalon. If the Beachmaster is not available, the White's Landing Harbor Patrol might be willing to take members to or from Avalon for $60 each way. Ralph and Mike will be the White’s Landing Harbor Patrol officers this year. They are more than willing to make Avalon runs for SDYC members when Dan is not available. The price is $60 each way for 1-6 people. The reservation number is (949) 606-6091. Ralph requested that we call this service a “charter” instead of “shoreboat” to avoid conflict with the shoreboat business in Avalon. Pickups will be on Float 5 in Avalon (closest to town).
Buffalo Beach is a great place for members to host large group gatherings. You might want to host a gathering of Indian Guides, Indian Princesses, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or a family reunion. However, please don’t schedule these gatherings in the Peak Season.
