1. US Olympic Trials Results

SDYC Hosts an Extremely Competitive and Successful Tornado Class Olympic Trials While SDYC Sailors Triumph Around the Country (see complete results)

TORNADO TRIALS, HOSTED BY SDYC: Savannah, Sydney, Athens ... and Qingdao! John Lovell and Charlie Ogletree's Tornado tour of Olympic sailing venues marches on after they pulled off a comeback for the ages by winning the last four races to outscore Robbie Daniel and Hunter Stunzi by one point---the first time in the 16-race regatta that the latter didn't own at least a tie for first place. Thus, Lovell and Ogletree, who turned 40 together Thursday, will try to upgrade their 2004 silver medals to gold next August. Read more...

Congratulations to SDYC Olympic Qualifiers Graham Biehl (470 Division) and Andrew Campbell (Laser Division). Other local success stories include SWYC's Tim Wadlow and Chris Rast who qualified in the 49er Division, and strong finishes by Mikee Anderson-Mitterling and Dave Hughes (2nd place, 470 Division), Adam Roberts and Nick Martin (3rd place, 470 Division), and George Szabo (2nd place, Star Division). "MERCY" is the huge navy hospital ship (www.mercy.navy.mil). It spent five months in South East Asia as part of the task group rendering aid to the victims of the 2004 tsunami.

Captain Tim McCully will present a compelling slide show, and narrative of the experiences.

November 7th - "WET"
"WET" is an evolving TV cable network on Sailing/Boating/Oceans. Like the golf channel, or other special interest channels, it promises to be of great interest to "Yachties" like us.
