The SDYC Amateur Radio Group and Cruising Fleet invites all SDYC members to join us Wednesday, December 16th, at 7:00 PM  for a virtual dinner and Zoom presentation.

The topic: Cruising offshore - Victoria, British Columbia to the South Pacific and Mexico. 

Barb Peck and Bjarne Hansen (call sign VA7ZIG) hail from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and use the SDYC Amateur Radio Group's (call sign W6IM) Winlink email over radio service while cruising aboard S/V Hoku Pa’a. You’ll hear about their cruising adventures to the South Pacific and down to Mexico aboard S/V Hoku Pa’a as well as some details about their use of amateur radio along the way. For more details see the SDYC ARG article in the December 2020 SDYC Mainsheet publication (page 18).

Ship to shore communications is what the SDYC Amateur Radio group, along with the California Yacht Club Radio Amateur Group, provide through the Winlink email over radio service they host for amateur radio operators. Cruisers such as Barb and Bjarne rely on Winlink.
