Cruising Fleet Anchoring & Rafting Workshop

Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 9:00am - 1:00pm
Sail Wash/Zoom + Keet

What are the steps to successfully anchoring? Ever dragged your anchor? Have you had someone drift too close to your anchored boat? When & how do you deploy a stern anchor?

Do you have questions about how our ;Raftups organized and how you tie-in? What is the best way to join a raftup? What preparations need to be completed BEFORE you approach an anchored boat and tie-in?

Other than casting off lines and/or pulling up the anchor - what do you need to plan for when departing an anchorage?

If you have any questions about anchoring or wish to share your experience:
Join us in the Frost Room on Saturday, January 22 at 9am for some tips and tricks on anchoring & rafting. This workshop is open to all members of SDYC; skippers & crew are encouraged to attend. This is held in conjunction with the Cruising Fleet La Playa Raftup, but CF members must register separately for that event by clicking here.

On Saturday morning at 9am, we’ll meet upstairs in the Frost Room to enjoy coffee and pastries while we talk about anchors, rode, and techniques for deploying your anchor, tying into the raft and what to do when departing an anchorage.

Then at about 11am, members of the Cruising Fleet are invited to proceed to La Playa where we will be aboard the 45’ motor-yacht “Keet”. Once aboard you and your crew will have the opportunity to practice anchoring skills and techniques.

Dave Abrams, Dan Friedman and Lance Murphy will guide the discussions. We welcome our Cruising Fleet members that have a great breath of experience to also join us in sharing their years of experience in how to safely anchor and what to avoid.

Please register for the Anchoring & Rafting Workshop by clicking here.
