Towing Signup & Assignments

Hello Junior Sailing Parents,

We are very excited for all of the upcoming travel events in Southern California this year! These travel events are great opportunities for our young sailors to develop their skills with different competition and venues, while having fun with the team. However, these events would not be possible without the support of parent volunteers.

We need parents to volunteer to help tow boats for our competitors and coaches. This requires a lot of coordination for our staff with logistics and running safety checks on all of our trailers before they hit the road, so please sign up for towing and events as soon as possible.

It is our goal to establish the trailering logistics at least four days before leaving for an event.

Please review our Towing Volunteer Google Sheet where you can sign up to tow and view our towing assignments. If you are able to tow for an event please enter your name, towing capacity, and whether or not you can tow both ways. The Junior Sailing Office will reach out to confirm the logistics in the lead up to the regatta.

Towing Volunteers are guaranteed an assigned trailer spot for their sailor. Other spots will be filled on a first come, first served status to SDYC members, then non-members.

No towing capacity on your vehicle? No problem! Rental trucks with towing capacity are readily available, and could be used several times per year, at a fraction of the cost of ownership. Here's an example:
